Why Southlake gets its own page

Most landscaping companies list every town within an hour and hope you do not check. Southlake is on this site because we have done substantial work here, not because it rounds out a map.

Two of the largest projects we have taken on came out of Southlake. That matters more than a mileage figure.

What Southlake properties tend to need

The lots here are generally larger than our Denton County average, with established tree cover and finished landscaping that is now old enough to need renovation rather than maintenance. Practically, that pushes the work toward:

Drainage correction on larger ground. More lot means water has further to travel before it reaches anywhere useful, and more chances to pool along the way. On a property this size the answer is usually a conveyance plan rather than a single trench.

Hardscape and outdoor living. Patios, retaining walls, seating walls and outdoor kitchens, built on base depth that holds up in ground that moves.

Mature tree and shrub work. Established canopy needs structural pruning, not just reduction. Oaks in particular need to be scheduled around oak wilt season, which runs February through June across this region.

Full property design. Where the planting has outlived the plan and the sensible move is to redesign rather than patch.

Water, and why it differs here

Southlake sits in Tarrant County, so its water and its outdoor watering rules come through the city rather than through Cross Timbers Water Supply Corporation, which is what covers Double Oak and the towns immediately around it.

The practical consequence is simple: do not assume a schedule you heard about in Denton County applies to your address. Confirm the current stage with the city before committing to an install that depends on establishment watering, because new sod and new planting both do.

The ground underneath

This part of North Texas sits in the transition between the Eastern Cross Timbers and the Grand Prairie. In broad terms that means slow-draining, high shrink-swell clay across much of it, with sandier pockets where the Woodbine sand formation surfaces.

Which of those you actually have varies property to property, and it changes irrigation run times, soil amendment and how a patio base should be built. It is the reason we walk the ground before quoting.
